Anarchy & Terrorism
There are anarchists who actually believe that the world would be a better place without any law or government. Of course that is easy to say when surrounded by and ever growing structure of governemental oversight and regulation. In the real world you need only look to Somolia for an idea of the pain and suffering of a people in such and environment.
Sometimes it is necessary to push the boundaries of power in order to keep them in check. The problem lies in the fact that both sides often share a blind devotion to their cause and a hatred for the other side.
Infrastructure Failure
Every day all over the USA and in cities around the world significant failures and collapses of basic infrastructure are occurring. Bridges are failing, Water Mains are breaking at alarming rates, Sewerage Mains are leaking increasingly toxic effluent in the ground water untreated, Electrical Power Grids are being overstressed and failing at increasing frequency, especially in the summer months. All in all the state of our primary infrastructure can be directly attributed to a lack of proactivism. It has been mismanaged, short sighted in its design and laxly maintained. Now we all we pay the consequences.
Man Made Disasters
Construction disasters, massive highway accidents, pipeline accidents, runaway trains, industrial accidents, human stampedes, and more occur every single day. Most of the disasters could have been averted. But for those caught unexpectedly in the aftermath suffer and even die. If you are properly prepared both mentally and physically you are more likely to either avoid it or survive and even help others too.
Natural Disasters
Every day around the world natural disasters occur. Some come unexpectedly, but most have warning signs prior to their arrival. Unfortunately, no matter how sophisticated our technology, tracking and warning systems have become it is not uncommon for the storms or other natural disasters to confound the experts and either act unpredictably or turn out to be much worse than predicted.
